Getting carried away !

When i have idea's i run with them, miles and miles. I spend hours on pinterest, flickr and looking in magazines for endless inspiration & that's my problem, i have so so many people photographs and graphic designers that inspire me my idea's just spiral. As you've probably all gathered fairy tale's are my thing, flickr is dangerous, my favourites is full of amazing photo's I've found on there, but they make me wish i could edit my photographs the way they do, but i can't ! (just yet) and this upsets me.

I always picture what i want my images to come out like, but when I've done it's nothing like i imagined and i feel a little deflated, I'm the most un-confident person when it comes to my own work, but this is why I'm on this journey, because i want to learn & i want to produce great photographs and pieces of work i can be proud to say I DID THAT. So me, my photographs, my camera & photoshop are all on a journey to produce amazing things that i can feel very proud of. My recent shoot 'The face of a broken mind' is my favourite shoot up to date and one that i am quite proud of and i hope to continue to feel this good about my work as i progress. I just need to keep telling myself, 'keep trying, you'll get there'.

This photograph below was a trial and error experiment, the clouds background was meant to be a texture of brusheezy but i found it worked better as it is, the rays off light where downloaded as brushes off deviant art & the girl in the photograph was taken by me :).

About A Book

My Book Arrived !

Yesterday my photo book arrived !, i ordered my book off blurb due to a recommendation. My book is a 18x18 cm soft cover, with a premium paper lustre finish the minimum amount of pages is 20, so i had to edit a few more photographs before i could fill my book. When it arrived it was very well packaged and only took about 4 days to get here (i think), it cost me £15.69 all together which i thought was very good for the quality of the book. Some of my photographs where quite dark on screen but light enough to make out what the picture was, but when printed in my book they are a little too dark, so if i was to make another book and the photographs are dark i will lighten them up for printing. Apart from that i love my book ! and i would defiantly recommend Blurb to anyone. These photo's of the book where taken on my phone so excuse the terrible quality

Skipton Horse Trials

Skipton Horse Trials

Yesterday was the Skipton Horse Trials, which i was excited to go to. The weather on the way there was horrible so i was a little worried about how my photographs where going to turn out (and my camera getting wet !). When we got there it was still very wet so we sat in the car and waited for it to go off, which it did..eventually. I know these photographs won't be the best horse photographs you will ever see but I'm still practising and seeing what works and what doesn't, so here is a few, enjoy.

Coming up !

Coming up !

So... I've realised that my next lot of photographs won't be to far away. I'm going to the Skipton horse trails this Saturday (if the weather is not horrendous) and I'm rather excited, i went to Chatsworth 2 years ago & loved it I'm not all about fairy tales i love taking sport photographs too, mainly horse events, I'm not fantastic as I'm still getting to grips with it & i have a new lens to work with which i am also getting used to. I used my lens at the recent leisure lakes fair but couldn't use it to its full potential as the arena was only small and not a lot going on, which is why I'm so excited for the weekend so i can give it a proper trail !!. My other photographs that will be in a couple of weeks time will be some of my new cute baby ferret, I've not got him yet because he's too young to be away from his mum but soon he will be home with me and i can't wait for you all to meet him, as some of you may know i had a ferret called Alfie but he sadly passed away last Christmas eve & i miss him lots and having a little furry friend in general, i hope my new ferret is as photogenic as Alf was so you can all see him. Be ready for some 'awww's' :). Just in case non of you saw Alf here he is when i first got him at 8/9 weeks old <3

Whats next ?

Next ?

After my most recent shoot, I've been feeling inspired to take more photographs, the problem is i don't know what to do next, i think i need to start making some plans. I did have small idea in my head of doing a series of old photographs based on a war evacuee as i live along the old Cheshire lines near one of the original old bridges, but as of yet I've not thought of much more about it. I also have a beautiful dress that is shouting photograph me ! but I'm stuck, i need to find some more inspiring photographs or have a brain wave. I have days where lots of plans hit me and i get all lost in a world of fairytale things, but today is not one of them days.... as of yet.

The face of a broken mind

In The Face Of Perfection

This shoot has changed quite a bit since i first made my plans, my model was originaly meant to be edited as a 'puppet' but as i am a little unsure at the moment on how to do that i've edited her minus the strings, but if i ever figure out how to do it & do it suitably well i will publish them on here, but for now i am very pleased with these photographs & i hope you enjoy them as much as i do. Thankyou to my beautiful cousin for being a wonderful model and being patient with me.

Little red riding hood part 2

Little Red Riding hood, part 2

So you may be wondering why i did a red riding hood part two ?, well I'll tell you, after doing my first red riding hood shoot i enjoyed it that much i almost wished there was another less pretty and neat side to the story. So after doing research and making lots of new pins on pinterest i decided I'd do 'another side'. I used a different model for Red Riding hood & i also used 3 more people to act as werewolves. I spent a day going around fancy dress shops looking for 'ear tips' eventually i found enough pairs for my werewolves, some where the wrong colour so i spent a few hours at home painting them ready for the shoot. All the werewolves outfits and hair was done by me, their make up was done my auntie who is a wiz with face paint & Red Riding hoods make up including the cuts where done by me. So a big thank you to my cousins, my brother & sister and my auntie for helping me on the day.

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood.

For my Next Fairytale shoot i didn't want a typical princess one, so i chose red riding hood, i loved shooting these images ! i also did a few of them on Polaroid film unfortunately a few didn't turn out but the ones that did i am very pleased with. Now in my photographs you may notice that there is no wolf, hard to believe i know, but now i have my new photoshop i might work on that. Thank you to my lovely friend Jasmine who modelled for me :) !

You're On Your Own

You're On Your Own

This next shoot is one i did for my final major project in college, i found a set of images of a young girl sat in the rain, and i know what you're thinking, what's fairytale about that ? just because she did'nt have a pretty dress on and flawless skin does'nt mean it's not a fairytale, so i took this idea of a lonley person in a mysterious place and made it my own. Funnily enough on the night of the shoot it did rain... much to my younger sister's disgust, who i have to thank for standing outside in the rain and cold in a tatty nighty & wellies.

My First Fairytale

My First Fairytale

My First Fairytale was one that i created myself in college, there is no specific story, just the one you see in each picture, inspired by different photographers i found in books & on the Internet i ran with my ideas and created some dreamy photographs, each one with something different to say. Of course no shoot is the same if it has not even one little prop, for this shoot i used balloons, some very pretty girly material & bath confetti !. After discovering the camera had a multi exposure setting, i HAD to use it, so i did. So here are a few of my own fairytale photo's. A big thank you to my friend Katie who didn't mind spinning round multiple times & being so patient. Enjoy !
