A very happy christmas

Hello everybody !, hope you've all had a lovely Christmas .

I've not been on here as I've not had much to update on, i have been planning for my winter wonderland shoot, and gathering my props up and making them plus arranging dates, i think i pretty much have everything need to do another practise run for the make up. It looks like we're not getting any snow here :( so it will have to be photoshop snow instead. My lovely model is also supplying the cupcakes for the shoot too !, The shoot will be the beginning of January hopefully :) I'm practising all my photoshop techniques i am going to need. I was hoping to have a new portrait lens to use, but i don't know what to get, help ?! if you have any ideas let me know, my facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/AFPhotography12  or comment on this post.

Here's a couple of festive photo's for you all.

Update: Winter Fairytale

As alot of you may know I'm planning a winter fairytale photoshoot. I've bought a dress which i will use as i am not sure I'm going to find a wedding dress. I also bought some very cute tea cups and saucers. I will put photographs up of the dress & tea cups & candle holders. I want to set up a little table with candles, tea cups & cupcakes on, like you'd see in any pretty fairytale, right ?.

Here is one of my candle holders !

The front and back of the dress

The dress is a bit flatter than i'd like, so i think i will buy a petticoat.

My Very cute tea cups and saucers.

My pinterest board is slowly filling up here is the link to it : http://www.pinterest.com/abbii28/winter-fairytale/
The make up is going to be very blue and icy, which i'm going to practice because i want it to be just right.
I really wanted some snow in this photoshoot, but i can't wait forever for it to arrive and we might not get any, i'm looking for a snow machine but i don't think i can afford one, so I've been watching plenty of videos on how to create snow in photoshop, i know, not as fun as the real snow, but it needs to look like winter.

Winter Fairytale

So as some of you will know I love pinterest  ! and after seeing this gorgeous photograph ( http://www.pinterest.com/pin/212584044884691860/ ) it sparked a wave of idea's. I have a perfect person in mind to model for me, i just have to ask her first. I really want to create a winter fairy tale, snow and all !.
Problem is i live in Southport & we rarely get snow and if we do it's minimal :( if any. So I'm looking for some fake snow or a snow machine, if anyone knows where i can borrow or buy one or find some fake snow for not very much money let me know i will link my facebook page or you can comment on this post . I'm also on the hunt for a ivory/white wedding dress with lace sleeves,

This is my pinterest board with some of my idea's so far

I've not done a photo blog in a while now, then one night sitting by the fire the cat was curled up keeping warm in front of it, then it hit me, autumn is here bringing with it a mix of weather !. There isn't very many but i will update this blog when i have taken some more, so let me know on facebook or comment on this blog what YOU think the first signs of autumn and winter are :).

P.S a great big thank you to everyone who keeps up to date with my blog because it's now had 1000 views !!, again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The Ringmaster

As some of you may have noticed, the ringmaster isn't scary. My whole plan was to do a scary ringmaster shoot, but after doing the scary make up and taking a few shots i realised i didn't like it as much as i thought i would, so we changed the make up and turned it into a more classy shoot instead, which i love !. I'm so pleased with how they have turned out, but now I'm going to have to find another scary idea instead. The photographs where shot in a barn using one light that had a soft box on. I also used my Polaroid camera again and was very pleased that all the photographs i took with it turned out. As always let me know what you think, i will leave the link to my facebook page below.

A Clown.

This Afternoon after work i took the opportunity to take the first set of photographs in my Halloween/scary circus series. As well as using these photographs as part of my circus photographs it was a trail for Halloween (so there may be more clown photographs at the end of the month). I ordered 2 packs of Polaroid film one in colour and the other, cool shade (black and white), I've tried to use this before and failed as i failed to shield it from the light in the first few crucial seconds, but this time i managed okay...just ! one didn't work, and the others aren't in fantastic focus but i think it adds to the effect.

My original photographs where in colour but after fiddling in photoshop i discovered they looked better in black and white. Most of them have a texture layered over the top of them. I used 1 studio light with a honeycomb.

Below are my Polaroids, the photographs of them aren't fantastic, i took for but 1 didn't work and the other one didn't photograph well.

These below are obviously my digital versions.

Confidence(or not), & What's next

Hello everybody, long time no see.
If any of you have my photo facebook page, you will know that lately, I've felt very down about my work, and have felt like I've not been good enough to post photographs on here or on facebook, so I've not done any in a while, but whilst i was away i did do some planning, so there will be some photographs soon :) yaay.

So it's nearly Halloween, & my brother wants to be a clown, this set off a spark of imagination, I'm going to do a series of scary circus portraits, which I'm quite excited about. I'm going to do a mime artist, clown, ring master & possibly a jester. Right now I'm on the hunt for circus things !, so I've been trawling the Internet for top hats, red tailcoats etc, i think I'm going to go on a fancy dress shop crawl. I'm so excited to be planning again as i love it. Images below are ones I've  found via the Internet for inspiration. I've also started my pinterest board with ideas on too. Some photographs may be taken before halloween, others on halloween, the ones i do before halloween will be shown & then i will do a collective blog, with all photographs on, of those that may be taken later on.

Whilst cycling to work one morning, the many pheasents in the fields (and at the side of the road) also gave me abit of inspiration, i'd also like to do some photographs of 'game shooting', for those of you who are unsure what i mean, here is a link to one http://www.nadirkhanphotography.co.uk/gallery.php

Combine Harvester !

I've been waiting for this day for weeks !, i love watching the combine working in the fields and love taking photographs of it. When watching the combine it always looks like it's going super slow but before you know it an hour has gone and so has half a field of crops, this may be why i was surprised to find i'd taken so many photographs just standing there watching, i thought i'd only taking half of the amount i put on my computer, so i was pretty impressed. There was one perfect photograph i was waiting to take as the sun was setting, but he didn't come and finish the last little bit, so i'm still waiting !, but for now here are a few.. enjoy

Body Portraits

Whilst browsing my favorite place for inspiration, pinterest i came across multiple images of just hands, ears, legs etc, in black and white. I really liked this idea of having a portrait but no actual form of identity, so whilst saving for a few little bits of war militaria i need for a shoot I'm planning i decided I'd so this black and white body portraits shoot, thinking it would be simple do to. I was wrong !, taking a photograph of just one part of a person is trickier than it actually looks getting the composition just right was a challenge. In college i was always told to think of simple idea's (something i find difficult), so this is why I'm a little confused as to why i can take more complicated pictures and be so much more pleased with them, than taking a 'simple' picture of just one thing with nothing going on around it or little emotion shown and not enjoy it or love it as much as i would my other work.

I'm really not pleased with these photographs, but i guess it's just trial and error, I'm going to put a few on here so you can see, but these aren't my best photographs, or the ones i love the most, i will keep taking the same style pictures and update this post, but as of yet I'm not thrilled with the set.

I will also  post a new blog of my plans for my next shoot, which i cannot wait to do ! it's not a pretty girly one with floaty dresses and sparkle, it's far from it, a plan will appear soon :)

A Princess In The Garden.

A Princess

Yesterday i did my second shoot of the summer holidays, but due to being unable to get to my location the photographs are shot in my garden and surrounding fields. Poses and inspiration i found on flickr and pinterest. The make up was done by me :) & the model is my cousin, so thankyou Jasmine for sitting in the garden in the cold wind !, there will be a few more photo's added later on, as i'm still trying to master 'floating' images.

The top 2 photographs are my favourite from the shoot !
